About
Erfan has done his undergraduate studies in Computer Engineering at the Amirkabir University of Technology. After the third year of his undergraduate studies, he did a summer internship at the computer science department of Iran's Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences [IPM], focusing on quantum computing. Starting with that internship, influenced by quantum fascinative subjects. He began self-studying quantum mechanics and quantum computing.
Shortly after, he took and audited courses in quantum physics and quantum machine learning. Keeping on his journey in quantum, he participated in the Qiskit Hackathon Europe of 2021, working alongside his teammates on the topic of "Quantum Search using Quantum Singular Value Transformation". They became one of the top 3 winning teams of the hackathon. Eventually, he did his BSc project on "Music generation using QML". He tried to make use of Quantum Generative Adversarial Networks and Quantum Long Short-Term Memory to generate novel musical compositions, as he thought the shared wave-like nature of quantum physics and musical sounds made the topic worthy of exploration.
In June of 2021, I joined the QuOne lab as a research intern (later promoted to research assistant) working on QML. At QuOne, in addition to learning more about how to do research, he increased his knowledge of ML and QML by discussing and giving presentations on scientific papers in the lab's reading group. His main areas of interest are the theories of Quantum Algorithms, Quantum Information Theory, Quantum Machine Learning, and Quantum Cryptography. He is also very interested in mathematical subjects such as Group Theory and Category Theory as well.
