About
Do you know professor Balthazar?
If you remember, he was the main character of a so-called Croatian animation series. He was a scientist and an inventor, considered his surrounding problems, and made things to solve those problems. The problem-solver character made an impact on Leila. Prof. Balthazar, a favorite character in Leila's favorite TV series, was her idol and the one who made her dream to become a scientist.
Leila was passionate about problem-solving in her school days and, unignorably, she has kept the property in her whole life until now.
The greatest joy of her scientific life back then was writing pseudo-codes to solve simple problems that her older brother used to tell her.
In high school, the problem-solving fever took Leila to the field of theoretical computer science (CS). She immediately fell in love with it and decided to become a computer scientist. Therefore, she pursued CS at Shahid Beheshti University, did her master's at Sharif University, and finally earned her Ph.D. at IPM. There she found the most challenging and fascinating problems. During her Ph.D., she got acquainted with the exciting world of quantum computation, which opened a new window in her life. This was the final piece of her problem-solving life puzzle. Her thesis was on quantum algorithms and their complexities. Leila is now working on quantum machine learning, a mixture of what she mastered so far. She loves to dig into new problems and explore the frontiers of science like a real scientist.
